Q&A: Warrant and Immigration Consequences

Question:

What if i was charge with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and crinminal damage got out on bOnd and left cus i was a legal resident but i really want to fix everything legally and be in the u.s legally is it posible? I been in the run for 1 yr
Answer:
t’s a little difficult to understand your question. If you were in the country legally at the time you absconded, then it’s unclear what you needed to to fix legally? If you are not in the country legally, pleading guilty to an offense can have immigration consequences including deportation and an inability to reenter the country. I suggest you consult an immigration attorney to resolve any outstanding immigration issues. As for the warrant, you will need to retain a qualified and experienced criminal defense attorney to file the appropriate motions and defend your criminal case. There are many qualified attorneys on this forum. Feel free to call for additional information.
