Q&A: Public Defender

Question:

My case has been going on for 6.5 months now. My public defender and the prosecutor kept telling the court there will be more charges added to my case. My public defender would not give me any info about the issue so i requested the information from the police department and the new charges are exactly the same as the old ones. same dates, same reasons, same evidence. I called her and told her this and Im sure she was in a meeting with the prosecuter about my case and she put me on speaker. The next day the prosecutor withdrew from the case and is no longer in that division. My public defender also kept telling me that she has not recieved any discovery. My last court date she withdrew from my case and the judge continued it for 60 days and granted me new counsel. I have court in a week and still no counsel. also in the police report it states that the police gave away the evidence. I just want a prof. opinion
Answer:
If you can afford private counsel, I recommend you retain an experienced criminal defense attorney to defend you. If you cannot afford private counsel, you may already have an assigned public defender, but they may be too busy to visit you before your court hearing. They will meet with you soon. Good luck.
